Essential Aircraft Mechanic Tools List
Aircraft mechanics require precise knowledge and customized tools to perform their duties. Magnets are usually long and extendable so they can easily retrieve these magnetic pieces and keep them out of the engine or wiring.

The most common types of pliers used in aircraft repair are duckbill, diagonal and needlenose. Needlenose pliers make small adjustments in tight spaces. Diagonal pliers are essential for installing and cutting safety wiring, and duckbill pliers twist safety wiring. Misuse of pliers can result in damage to the aircraft and the tool.
Punches are useful for a range of applications. These tools can help mechanics create holes in sheet metal, find the center of a circle, start drilling holes or remove damaged bolts and rivets. The two standard types are hollow and solid. Punches should create holes without dimpling the metal. They help transfer holes from paper to metal and create an ideal opening for screws.
8. Rivet Guns
A rivet gun drives the rivet through the metal to create a joint and fasten pieces together. Rivets replace screws and bolts in places where the mechanic cannot access the back of the material. Riveting is used on aircraft because it is a sturdy fastener that is lightweight.
